Thomas Tallis and John Sheppard

Two of the most fascinating composers of the English Renaissance

A course for experienced choir singers Course tutor: Deborah Roberts

Thomas Tallis and John Sheppard were Catholic composers who composed for both the Catholic and Anglican rite. This course will look at a wide range of music in Latin and English that reflects the variety and richness of their output. The exact choice of pieces will depend on the scorings available from the singers who book for the course, but we would certainly hope to include some of the larger scale pieces from the reign of Queen Mary 1.

There will be opportunities for singing in smaller groups as well as with the main choir.

Singers need to have clear, well- focused voices with good control of vibrato and sense of pitch.

Voice parts:

High soprano: (comfortable singing around the top of the stave for extended periods)
Mezzo-soprano
Alto: Male or female
Tenor
Baritone
Bass
